Job Summary:
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides operational medical support services in support of Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) training and operations. The EMT delivers immediate medical response capabilities, emergency standby coverage, injury prevention expertise, and operational medical coordination to ensure force readiness, mission success, and operational continuity in high-risk and austere environments. The position supports tactical, operational, and strategic medical requirements for military personnel conducting advanced technology and EOD-related missions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide on-site emergency medical support during Navy EOD training exercises, demolition training, and operational evolutions.
• Maintain current EMT certification and all required professional credentials.
• Deliver immediate medical response and emergency care for injuries and illnesses occurring during training and operational activities.
• Utilize secure mobile and encrypted tablet-based systems to access specialized medical protocols, treatment guidance, and reference materials.
• Assess and treat EOD-specific injuries and incidents involving advanced technologies and robotic systems.
• Provide emergency care for electrical burns, crush injuries, traumatic injuries, and hazardous material exposures associated with EOD operations.
• Coordinate medical evacuations and emergency response efforts in remote and austere operational environments.
• Utilize advanced communication systems, including satellite and mesh-network technologies, to support medical coordination and telemedicine consultations.
• Collect, document, and analyze injury and incident data to support force health protection initiatives and injury prevention programs.
• Identify health threats and occupational hazards associated with EOD operations, training exercises, homeland defense missions, and civil support operations.
• Provide recommendations to improve operational safety, training procedures, and medical readiness.
• Support maritime and underway training operations, including activities conducted in coastal and offshore environments.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with applicable Navy medical support requirements and operational readiness standards.
• Collaborate with military personnel, leadership, and support staff to ensure effective medical coverage during all assigned training and operational events.
Qualifications:
• Current National Registry EMT (NREMT) certification or state-certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) credential.
• Ability to maintain EMT certification, continuing education requirements, and any required training throughout the period of performance.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Emergency Medical Services, Paramedicine, Healthcare, or a related field preferred.
• Experience providing emergency medical care in military, public safety, industrial, field, maritime, expeditionary, or austere operational environments preferred.
• Knowledge of emergency medical response procedures, patient assessment, stabilization, and evacuation protocols.
• Experience treating trauma, electrical injuries, crush injuries, and hazardous material-related exposures preferred.
• Familiarity with mobile medical applications, electronic medical references, and secure communication technologies.
• Ability to operate effectively in physically demanding, high-risk, and dynamic training environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary operational team.
• Experience supporting military training exercises, special operations, EOD, or expeditionary missions preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain all required government installation access credentials and security requirements.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel in support of training and operational requirements as needed.
