The Marketing Intern will gain meaningful, hands-on experience in the nonprofit marketing space, supporting efforts that advance critical issues in jobs, justice, education, health, housing, and entrepreneurship. This internship provides a unique opportunity to build skills in brand management, market research, public relations, social media strategy, and content creation.
Interns will learn to use industry-standard tools such as Hootsuite, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and other marketing software while developing practical knowledge of editing, design, social media management, and campaign execution. Working closely with the Marketing team, the intern will contribute by conducting research, preparing materials, assisting with communications, and participating in key departmental projects and initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Use tools such as Hootsuite to assist in developing and scheduling content for social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok.
- Assist in maintaining and updating the LUL website regarding upcoming events.
- Support the creation of marketing materials, including flyers, graphics, and digital assets, using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Canva.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, target audiences, and opportunities for engagement.
- Help monitor and track social media analytics and comments, preparing reports on reach, engagement, and performance.
- Draft and edit content for newsletters, press releases, and other communications.
- Organize and maintain the marketing team’s digital files, photography, and design assets using Google Drive.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate ideas for campaigns and community outreach.
- Assist with event marketing, including preparing promotional materials, coordinating logistics, and capturing content during events.
- Collaborate with internal teams and departments to ensure consistent brand messaging across all channels.
- Provide general administrative support to the marketing department as needed.

- Must be computer literate and highly effective using G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
- Willing to undergo a background check, in accordance with local law/regulations
- Must occasionally be available evenings and weekends, including holidays
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
Education and/or Experience
- At least one year of related work experience in marketing, preferably in civil rights/social justice marketing.

Experience in interactive and digital media (Including, but not limited to, website maintenance, online advertising, social media, and email marketing) is a must.
