SUMMARY:
The Marketing Copywriter serves as the primary writer for the Marketing Department, producing, reviewing, and refining copy for campaigns, promotions, and communications across multiple channels, including email, web, print, digital advertising, social media, TV/radio, internal communications, and community outreach materials. This role is responsible for ensuring all content is clear, member-friendly, compliant, and aligned with SSSCU's brand tone, style, and voice., The role is also focused on supporting internal alignment on external marketing initiatives that drive growth, engagement, and long-term member relationships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are essential functions of this position but are subject to change based on operating necessity.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and compliance partners to understand project objectives, audience needs, regulatory requirements, and success criteria-ensuring all content is accurate, compliant, and on brand.
- Develop clear, consistent, and effective brand messaging across internal and external communications, aligning with the Credit Union's voice, positioning, and strategic priorities.
- Write engaging, dynamic copy for acquisition and lifecycle marketing emails, adapting tone, language, and messaging based on audience segmentation, including demographic and psychographic differences (e.g., Credit Young vs. Credit Wise).
- Create compelling written content across multiple channels, including websites, landing pages, digital ads, banners, social media, direct mail, and internal communications, with an emphasis on clarity, relevance, and conversion.
- Write copy, talking points, and support materials for media interviews, press releases, and public-facing announcements, ensuring consistency with brand messaging and executive positioning.
- Produce meaningful content that supports the Credit Union's financial literacy initiatives, including materials for the financial wellness team, the People Over Profit (POP) Foundation, and educational blog content for the website.
- Apply best practices in SEO-optimized and conversion-focused copywriting, including keyword strategy, headline development, and audience-driven messaging for digital platforms.
- Publish and manage content across a variety of platforms and tools, ensuring accuracy, formatting consistency, and alignment with campaign timelines.
- Demonstrate exceptional proofreading, editing, and quality-control skills, reviewing content for grammar, clarity, accuracy, compliance, and brand alignment before publication.
- Stay informed on financial industry trends, local peer and competitor activity, and evolving marketing best practices to inform messaging and content strategy.
- Adhere to SSSCU's content marketing strategy, brand standards, style guide, and content typology to maintain consistency and quality across all communications.
- Maintain working knowledge of credit union regulatory and compliance requirements impacting marketing content, including but not limited to FCRA, Reg DD, Reg C, Reg B, and Reg Z, particularly as they relate to print, publications, and direct mail.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize workload effectively, and meet established deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Provide support to the Marketing Department for events, campaigns, and special projects as needed to ensure overall departmental and organizational success.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree in Writing, English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications and/or related work experience. Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
- 3+ years of copywriting experience
- Understanding of keyword research, Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
