Why we need you

In our eCommerce team, organic search is an important channel for how customers discover Article. With a large catalog of products and growing competition across furniture and home categories, we want a clearer understanding of how our site performs in organic search today and where the biggest opportunities exist.

We’re looking for an experienced SEO contractor to conduct a focused audit of our current performance across technical SEO, content coverage, and authority signals. Your work will help establish a clear baseline, identify the highest-impact opportunities, and develop a prioritized roadmap that aligns with ecommerce traffic and revenue growth.

Within the first few weeks, you’ll evaluate how our site is crawled, indexed, and ranked, and identify key gaps across category and product search. By the end of the engagement, you’ll deliver a clear set of recommendations and a practical roadmap that helps Article focus on the SEO initiatives that will move the needle most.

Scope of Work

You’ll partner with Article’s eCommerce team to conduct a focused SEO audit and develop a prioritized roadmap to improve organic search performance.

Your work will help us understand where we’re winning, where we’re missing opportunities, and which initiatives will drive the most impact for ecommerce traffic and revenue.

Key areas of work include:
  • Conduct a technical SEO audit to evaluate crawlability, indexation, site architecture, and performance signals such as Core Web Vitals
  • Assess category pages, product pages, and site templates to identify content and keyword coverage gaps
  • Analyze internal linking structure and how effectively authority flows across the site
  • Evaluate Article’s backlink profile and domain authority relative to key competitors.
  • Identify high-value opportunities to improve non-brand search visibility across key product and category terms
  • Benchmark Article’s organic search presence against top SERP competitors to understand share of voice and ranking gaps
  • Quantify opportunity areas by estimating potential traffic impact from priority initiatives
  • Develop a clear and practical SEO roadmap covering quick wins, mid-term improvements, and longer-term investments
  • Provide strategic recommendations on how SEO ownership and operating cadence could work effectively at Article
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders across eCommerce and UX teams

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on SEO experience, with a strong focus on eCommerce websites
  • Proven experience auditing large eCommerce catalogs with thousands of SKUs
  • Strong understanding of how technical SEO, content strategy, and authority signals work together to drive organic growth
  • Experience translating SEO insights into prioritized recommendations tied to traffic or revenue impact

Technical Skills

  • Deep understanding of crawlability, indexation, site architecture, and internal linking strategies
  • Strong experience with eCommerce SEO, including product listing pages (PLPs), product detail pages (PDPs), and faceted navigation

  • Familiarity with modern search trends, including structured data, semantic search, and evolving AI-driven search experiences

Tools We Use

  • Experience using tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, or similar SEO platforms
  • Comfortable analyzing crawl data, ranking trends, and backlink profiles to identify opportunities and risks
  • Experience working with large site crawls and translating findings into clear, actionable insights

How You Work

  • You are adaptable and pragmatic, able to quickly focus on the highest-impact opportunities rather than producing generic best-practice audits
  • You communicate clearly and can present complex SEO findings in a way that is easy for cross-functional teams to understand
  • You bring a structured, problem-solving mindset and can connect technical insights to real business outcomes
  • You are comfortable working independently in a short engagement while collaborating with internal stakeholders
