International Women’s Initiative (IWI) is an organisation which raises awareness of the threats to the human rights of women across the globe and to promote and assist in the achievement of gender equality. Since 2012, IWI has worked to eradicate and educate on human rights violations against women. As Copywriter, it will be your job to engage the reader and motivate them to do something, such as donate to one of our programmes or participate in one of our campaigns. You may also write copy designed to convey valuable information about IWI in general. Our ideal candidate is a team-spirited, skilled and imaginative writer with an eye for detail. If you can grasp project requirements quickly and offer valuable insight, we’d like to meet you.
Key Deliverables: Team Liaison
From set-up to completion, you will be working directly with the director who is in need of your services, including checking in with the director regularly, either by phone, email, Skype or face-to-face
Working with teams to ensure that the visual elements of the webpage complement the words
Key Deliverables: Project Scoping
Tailoring the content and style of individual writing assignments according to their purpose
Identifying key messages and understanding the main thing that you want the reader to feel and do, and how to communicate this powerfully
Understanding the target audience as you are writing for our current and prospective supporters, you will need to know what interests them
Key Deliverables: Website Content
Writing for web pages and potentially also for social media, and video script
Qualifications & Skills
Strong listening skills
Excellent writing ability, including the ability to write in different styles and to other people's direction
Good research and analytical skills to gain an accurate understanding of the subject in question
Organisational ability to manage multiple projects, often to tight deadlines
Creative approach, both in coming up with ideas for new projects and for getting a message across innovatively
Ability to work independently and flexibly
Good attention to detail, including the ability to proof-read your own work
Strong interpersonal skills as you will be working with a range of team members
Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously, take initiative and make decisions
Strong leadership skills

Time Commitment: The minimum commitment is an average of 10 hours per week including a weekly one on one meeting with supervisor.
