Job Title: Copywriter and Social Media Manager

Reports To: Director of Marketing & Communications

Location: Bentonville, AR office (hybrid schedule available)

Status: Full-time, Exempt

 

Position Summary

The Copywriter and Social Media Manager is responsible for shaping and sharing the voice of Water for Good across all digital and print channels. This role combines creative storytelling with strategic execution, ensuring that every piece of content—from a social media post to a fundraising email—connects emotionally, drives action, and strengthens our brand. The ideal candidate will be both a storyteller and strategist, with a passion for mission-driven work, driven by deadlines and data, and with the ability to adapt content for diverse audiences.

 

Responsibilities & Duties Overview

  • Own and champion the brand voice across all platforms, ensuring consistency and authenticity in tone, style, and messaging.
  • Write all key content to represent the organization, including website copy, blog articles, transformation stories, social media content, fundraising appeals, campaign materials, newsletters, and donor communications.
  • Edit materials created by others for grammar, style, and brand voice.
  • Create with fundraising in mind, crafting content that inspires giving and can be segmented for appropriate audiences.
  • Manage the editorial calendar, ensuring timely and coordinated release of content across all channels to support campaigns, events, and initiatives.
  • Oversee social media strategy and execution, including content planning, execution, collaboration with team members, and day-to-day engagement with followers.
  • Analyze performance metrics for social media and content campaigns, using insights to refine strategy and improve engagement, reach, and conversion rates.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to source stories, data, gather testimonials, and develop compelling narratives that highlight impact.
  • Identify and leverage trends in social media, digital marketing, and nonprofit communications to keep our content fresh and relevant.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Work Experience & Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Passion for Water for Good’s mission of transforming lives through sustainable access to safe water, and improved sanitation and hygiene in places that need it most.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in content creation, copywriting, or social media management—preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
  • Proven ability to write clear, persuasive, and emotionally resonant content.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and analytics.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience managing an editorial calendar and coordinating content across multiple teams.
  • Passion for safe water and a commitment to advancing the mission.
  • Eligible to work in the United States; no sponsorship will be provided.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and social scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, SproutSocial) preferred.
  • Experience living or working in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Experience with StoryBrand or other donor/customer-centric communications frameworks.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Pardot, WordPress, and Asana.
  • Photography skills and familiarity with photo management and editing software.

 

Physical Qualifications:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

 

Travel Required: less than 10%
