Title: Copywriter

Job Description:

As a member of the creative team, the copywriter will write and edit content for a variety of projects, working closely with the account, video, social media, and design teams to brainstorm ideas, develop concepts and clearly articulate messaging. You are a highly skilled and imaginative copywriter, driven by deadlines and a strong team spirit. With a passion for storytelling, grammar, creative writing, and marketing copy, you possess a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of how marketing copy effectively drives sales.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret & Execute Creative/Project Briefs
    • Write original copy for a range of marketing and communications materials
    • Interpret and execute creative/project briefs provided by clients or internal stakeholders, quickly understanding objectives, target audience, and key messaging opportunities.
    • Execute copywriting tasks according to the requirements and guidelines specified in the briefs
  • Develop Copy aligned with Brand Messaging & Goals
    • Seamlessly adapt to the voice, style, and other characteristics of messaging based on the industry, brand, or target audience
    • Raise the bar continually for writing fresh copy that connects with a desired audience and drives action
    • Ensure consistency in messaging across various marketing channels and materials
    • Have an understanding of SEO principles and use them to maximize copy’s reach when necessary
  • Content Research
    • Conduct thorough research to gather information and insights relevant to the project and understand the client’s true needs
    • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices in copywriting and client-related industry trends and consistently apply in your daily work
    • Use research findings to inform and enhance the quality and relevance of the copy produced
    • Source images and other content as needed
  • Proofreading & Editing
    • Proofread and edit copy to ensure accuracy, clarity, and coherence
    • Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax errors as needed
    • Review and refine copy to improve readability and effectiveness
    • Revise copy based on internal and client feedback
  • Inter-Departmental Collaboration
    • Collaborate with other departments and creative directors/associate creative directors based on project briefs to develop effective copy.
    • Communicate effectively with cross-departmental teams to ensure project deliverables and scope of work is understood and delivered on-time, within budget.
    • Present copy concepts to internal teams and occasionally in client pitches as needed.

Skills & Qualifications:Β 

  • 4+ years of professional copywriting experience or equivalent portfolio of work. Agency experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, English, journalism or related field preferred
  • Exceptional writing, editing and research skills
  • Well-rounded knowledge writing for various marketing channels including but not limited to websites, social media, digital ads, scriptwriting for commercials and radio, blogs, press releases, billboards, and mailers.
  • Experience with SEO copywriting is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team to meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and multitasking ability
  • Proofreading experience and familiarity with standard style guides
  • Keen eye for detail and appreciation of great design
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload and short turnaround times.

$25 Per Hour, Up to 35 hours per week.
