Job Description – PPC Engineer/ Asst. Manager (Production Planning & Control)

Position: PPC Engineer (Production Planning & Control)

Industry: Heavy Fabrication / Structural Steel / Bridge Fabrication / Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEB)

Experience: 5–8 Years


Job Purpose: 
To plan, coordinate, monitor, and control manufacturing activities to ensure timely execution of fabrication projects, optimum utilization of resources, and adherence to delivery schedules, quality standards, and productivity targets.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning

  • Prepare detailed production plans based on project schedules, customer requirements, and available capacities.
  • Develop weekly and monthly production schedules for fabrication, welding, machining, painting, and dispatch activities.
  • Coordinate with Design, Procurement, Quality, and Production departments for smooth workflow execution.
  • Monitor progress against production plans and take corrective actions to eliminate delays.

Material Planning & Control

  • Review BOMs, drawings, and material requirements for projects.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Stores to ensure timely availability of raw materials, consumables, and bought-out items.
  • Monitor material shortages and prepare material requirement reports.
  • Track material consumption and minimize wastage.

Production Monitoring

  • Track daily production achievements against planned targets.
  • Prepare and analyze production MIS reports, productivity reports, and variance analysis.
  • Identify bottlenecks in fabrication processes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machines, and fabrication facilities.

Coordination & Scheduling

  • Liaise with Project Management teams to align production schedules with project milestones.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance for stage inspections and release of fabricated components.
  • Work closely with Dispatch and Logistics teams to ensure timely shipment of finished products.


Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Certification in Production Planning, Supply Chain Management, or ERP systems will be an added advantage.

Required Experience

  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in Heavy Fabrication, Structural Steel Fabrication, Bridge Fabrication, PEB, Industrial Equipment Manufacturing, or similar industries.
  • Experience in handling fabrication planning, scheduling, and resource management for large-scale projects.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
