Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

As a Marketing Specialist, Copywriter on the Brand Marketing team, you’ll be responsible for writing materials that encapsulate Vancity’s bold, contemporary, and uncomplicated brand. Your writing will captivate Vancity members and prospects alike, driving growth and keeping our members informed. You’ll work closely with our team of designers to brainstorm ideas, develop campaign concepts, and make our message clear: together, with our members, we’re a financial force for change. You’ll work alongside an innovative and creative team that shares your values and mission to change our world for the better.

This is a Full-time, Temporary contract role based at the Vancity head office and will report directly to the Manager, Creative Services Marketing. While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on-site for events and business demands.

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Acting as a “brand steward” to ensure that brand tone and storytelling consistency are maintained across all platforms
  • Interpreting creative direction and adapting content from creative briefs into persuasive copy concepts. Proposing copy concepts and presenting underlying strategic thinking to business leaders for buy-in and approval
  • Providing clear and engaging content for all platforms, whether it’s a full-scale campaign (complete with an email journey, branch signage, web assets, and more) or a one-off social media post
  • Developing deep knowledge of Vancity’s products, services, and member needs
  • Working with the content strategist and designers to enrich copy with compelling visual aids
  • Working with contractors that contribute to content deliverables ensuring brand voice is on target

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • University degree in marketing, advertising, journalism, communications or other relevant degree from a recognized post-secondary institution 
  • Copywriting certificate or SEO copywriting certificate 
  • 5+ years of experience copywriting, including for web and social media channels 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Exceptional skill and understanding of the nuances of digital ad performance writing 
  • Interest in financial topics and the ability to break down complex 
    products, services, or concepts into accessible, simple language 
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively 
  • Exceptional attention to detail 
  • Strong research skills 
  • Excellent time management skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently

  • Experience writing long-form copy 
  • Website content development experience 
  • Understanding of financial products or working within a financial environment 
  • A strong handle and genuine interest of digital content
  • Experience using Content Management Systems

What You’ll Earn:

This role offers a salary range of $69,700 to $82,000 per annum. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
