Job Overview 

The Marketing Intern supports the Marketing Department by assisting with press release development, marketing communications, event photography and visual content capture, social media content creation, and digital media organization. This paid, sixweek internship provides handson experience in marketing operations while contributing to brand awareness, campaign execution, and community engagement through written, visual, and digital content. The intern works collaboratively with the Marketing team to ensure content aligns with organizational branding, communication standards, and established timelines. 

 

Manager to list the top 5 critical duties for this role (these will be used to qualify/measure a new hire during their probationary performance review). 

  1. Press Release & Marketing Communications Support: Assist in drafting, editing, and formatting press releases and marketing communications to support organizational announcements, events, and initiatives. Ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency in tone, and alignment with organizational branding and approval processes prior to distribution. 
  1. Event Photography & Video Content Capture: Capture highquality photos and shortform video content at events, programs, meetings, and organizational activities. Ensure visual content is clear, wellcomposed, appropriately framed, and suitable for use across marketing, digital, and promotional platforms. 
  1. Social Media Content Creation & Platform Engagement: Support social media content creation, scheduling, posting, and basic engagement monitoring across BSI platforms in alignment with branding guidelines and communication standards. Assist in maintaining a consistent posting schedule and follow established content approval and escalation procedures. 
  1. Digital Media Asset Management: Organize, label, tag, and maintain digital media assets (photos, videos, and marketing files) in accordance with BSI’s content management, confidentiality, and data storage policies. Ensure assets are easily accessible and properly archived for future marketing use. 
  1. Marketing Collaboration & Campaign Support: Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and execute content ideas that support campaigns, events, and community engagement. Contribute creative ideas, assist with content preparation, and complete assigned tasks to ensure campaign timelines, objectives, and deliverables are met. 

 

Additional Responsibilities and Duties 

 

  • Participate in marketing meetings, briefings, and project discussions as requested to support collaboration, communication, and professional development. 
  • Follow all organizational branding, confidentiality, data management, and communication policies when handling marketing materials and digital assets. 
  • Assist with content organization, archiving, and basic engagement tracking when requested to support marketing reporting and analysis. 
  • Provide support for administrative and operational tasks related to marketing campaigns, events, and projects assigned. 
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when working with internal information, visual assets, and communications. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Required Experience, Qualifications and Skill 

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed coursework in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field. 
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms, digital communication, and content creation best practices. 
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, professional content and follow branding guidelines. 
  • Interest in marketing communications, photography, visual storytelling, and digital media. 
  • Ability to follow instructions, apply feedback, meet assigned deadlines, and work collaboratively within a team environment. 
  • Basic organizational skills with the ability to manage digital files, content, and multiple tasks effectively.

Physical Demands: 

This position is regularly  to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear. The position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
