Ideas with Intention

zag (that is right, no capital) is a full-service, marketing and advertising agency that is hell-bent on getting to know brands inside and out. We ensure we capture the perfect blend of creativity, strategy, and management to catapult brands in the right direction with ease. With us, there is always room to grow, and we are currently looking for a Copywriter to do just that.

We come to work every day to solve challenges, and we lean on our teammates to do it. We all have titles, but we are not defined by them. By working together and bending our disciplines, we bring unique perspectives to the table, learn from each other, and stick the landing.

We have six guiding principles that help keep us grounded along the way:

Be Better.

We strive for unicorn-level greatness.

Own It.

We care about what we create.

Think Beyond.

We outsmart challenges with creative and forward thinking.

Get Real.

We dare to show up as ourselves.

Team Up.

We take the carpool lane, working together to achieve the best results.

All In.

We make it count. Every day.

Why zag?

  • You’ll be empowered to create, and innovate — not just execute tasks.
  • We value ideas, initiative, and people who challenge the norm.
  • You’ll work in a collaborative environment where strategic thinking and creativity go hand in hand.
  • You’ll be encouraged to stay curious, explore ideas and continually seek new and better ways to do things through technology and innovation.
  • There’s room to grow, stretch, and make a lasting impact — with the support to back it up.

Requirements

  • Best suited to candidates with up to two years of agency experience.
  • Proven ability to write compelling, original content that engages audiences.
  • Strong storytelling, editing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work across multiple styles, tones, and formats.
  • Understanding of marketing principles, branding and audience psychology.
  • Experience managing several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with digital channels and SEO considerations is an asset.

Primary Objective for this Position

To transform insights into persuasive, on-brand communication that brings creative concepts to life across every touchpoint and channel.

The Copywriter is both a conceptual thinker and a skilled executor — developing compelling headlines, scripts, taglines, campaign ideas, and long-form content that resonate with diverse audiences. Equally comfortable crafting a homepage as scripting a social video or naming a product, this role adapts tone, language, and structure to suit each brand and platform.

Working collaboratively with Designers, Strategists, and Account and Technical teams, the Copywriter shapes clear, purposeful messaging across websites, landing pages, apps, digital advertising, social campaigns, video, email, and beyond — ensuring every piece of communication is cohesive, impactful, and true to the brand.

Key Responsibilities

The day-to-day will evolve, but core duties include:

  • Collaborate with Art Directors and Creative teams to generate campaign ideas and narratives.
  • Participate in brainstorms and contribute original thinking aligned to marketing objectives.
  • Write clear, engaging, and persuasive copy for advertising, websites, social media, email and other marketing materials.
  • Adapt writing style to different brands, audiences, and formats.
  • Ensure messaging is accurate, grammatically sound, and aligned to brand voice.
  • Translate briefs and business objectives into creative communication.
  • Conduct research into audience behaviour, trends, and subject matter to inform writing.
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously and meet tight deadlines typical of agency environments.

You will also:

  • Take ownership of your work and deliverables from start to finish.
  • Share inspiration, techniques, or resources that benefit the broader creative team.
  • Seek ways to streamline your workflows and improve the design process.
  • Approach every project — big or small — with a calm, positive, solution-oriented mindset.

What we offer you:

  • Competitive pay
  • Comprehensive Dental and Health benefits
  • Competitive vacation time, PTO days, and zag days.
  • Extracurriculars (holiday parties, summer party, Party Planning Committee, etc. – and more!)

Applying

Shortlisted applications will receive an email from us requesting a 30-minute screening interview. Following the screening interview, successful applicants will receive a request for a formal interview.

We understand how uncertain the application process can be, so we promise not to leave you hanging. If at any time you are not selected to move forward, you will receive an email from us letting you know.
