Description

The Copywriter is a key member of the Product Marketing team responsible for conceptualizing, writing, editing and proofreading a variety of medical, scientific, and marketing communications for print, web, social, digital, video and other media.

This role researches medical data and clinical findings from internal and external sources, extracts information most relevant to specific target readers, and writes digital and print pieces that are and on-brand and speak to multiple clinical and commercial audiences.

The Copywriter is based on-site in a Kerecis office and reports to the Vice President of Product Marketing. This is a full-time role.

Essential Functions

  • Read clinical data from scholarly journals, internal and external studies, and other reliable sources to analyze findings and extract the most relevant information
  • Position the company and products according to commercial goals, and the clinical needs of customers and patients
  • Use multiple writing styles according to the target audience, ensuring consistency in voice and tone within each audience
  • Combine scientific knowledge with excellent writing skills for clinically-oriented campaigns, tools, and reference pieces
  • Convert complex technical information into cogent pieces that resonate with target audiences and prompt action
  • Synthesize and distill large amounts of content into small, easily-consumable pieces when appropriate
  • Proofread and edit existing written pieces, making improvements as needed
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements

Competencies and Attributes

  • Able to understand complex scientific data and present it in a way that drives readership and encourages action
  • Strong working knowledge of principles of medical ethics, HIPAA, and established trade law as relates to claims and advertising
  • The ability to analyze data, extract salient information, and present it in a fresh way
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple writing projects simultaneously in complex environments with multiple stakeholder groups
  • High aptitude for process, workflow, and project management
  • Self-starter with a strong results orientation
  • Incredible attention to detail, while being mindful of the end goal and operating environment
  • Warm, friendly, positive comportment

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, a life sciences field, English, advertising, journalism or marketing from an accredited college or university
  • At least 5 years of technical or medical writing experience, including at least 2 years of writing for a medical device or pharmaceutical company
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with clinical key opinion leaders and research scientistsΒ 
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including applying styles and using templatesΒ 
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, Sunshine Protection Act, and other healthcare-specific regulations
  • Certification by the American Medical Writer’s Association (AMWA) is preferred

Anticipated periodic travel to tradeshows, conferences, and medical events: 5% - 10%
