ABOUT THE NORTHERN TEXAS PGA
The Northern Texas PGA is one of 41 Sections of the PGA of America. Its geographic territory includes the State of Texas north of the 31st latitude, or just north of Austin. Over 1,000 PGA of America Golf Professionals employed at more than 300 facilities comprise this Section.
 
Northern Texas PGA headquarters are located on the PGA Frisco campus and feature state-of-the-art office space, a growth of the game pavilion and a golf park designed for junior golfers.
 
In addition to managing the day-to-day affairs of the Section, the Northern Texas PGA also operates a non-profit and charitable foundation that focuses on five pillars: junior golf, college scholarships, inclusion, internships and military & veterans. 

The mission of the Northern Texas PGA is to serve its members and grow the game.
 
INTERNSHIP START & END DATES
January 8 – May 13, 2025
(start and end dates are somewhat flexible based on successful applicant’s school schedule)

JOB SUMMARY
The Northern Texas PGA has numerous tournaments, events and stories that we like to share with the North Texas community. Through our communications and media department, our staff helps create and develop content and promote our good works to further our mission of serving our members and growing the game of golf.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
This intern will assist primarily with the marketing aspects of this department. Activities include, but are not limited to:
  •  Assist with marketing, advertising and campaign strategies to promote the NTPGA, NTPGA Foundation and NTPGA Junior Tour
  • Compile information to create effective email promotions for the NTPGA, NTPGA Foundation, and NTPGA Junior Tour
  • Communicate with and interview juniors, parents, and PGA professionals
  • Assist with the management of the NTPGA's websites
  • Compose media releases
  • This role will be primarily office-based with some on-site days scheduled
  • Provide on-site tournament operations support as needed

SPRING SCHEDULE
The Communications & Marketing intern will be expected to work, on average, five days a week with the exception of a few special events. In a typical week, the Communications & Marketing intern may expect to work in the office five days.  Some out-of-office work will be required at select times.  On average, spring interns can expect to work 35-40 hours including some weekends.  Additional tasks and hours can be added for those with special requirements for obtaining school credit.

QUALIFICATIONS OF CANDIDATE
Knowledge of Software & Equipment:
  • Ability to use Apple computers and operating system
  •  Knowledge of Google Suite
  • Experience with drafting and publishing a press release
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and/or After Effects)
  • Experience with website publications is a plus
  •  Experience with DSLR cameras & video cameras a plus

General: 
  • Enjoy working with people, including children and young adults ages 7-19
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, punctual, energetic and a self-starter
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team-based environment 
  • Ability to bring innovative and creative ideas to work
  • Has or is pursuing a college degree (third or fourth-year students preferred)
  • Has automobile access with willingness and ability to travel within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex
  • Has existing insurance (through school or family)

Physical Requirements: 
  • Ability to work early mornings
  • Ability to work outside in extreme weather and temperatures
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds, i.e. tents, tables, stakes, and signage 
  • Ability to safely operate a golf cart
  • Ability to stand and move around on foot for extended periods of time
  • Ability to speak publicly
  • Effectively able to use and operate cell phones, tablets, and hand-held radios 

TOURNAMENT TRAVEL
Tournaments will be located throughout the entire Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Interns will be responsible for their own transportation to and from all tournaments as well as to and from the Northern Texas PGA office. Should a tournament be conducted outside of the DFW Metroplex travel, meals and lodging will be provided. 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Interns are compensated at a rate of $10.00 per hour (before taxes) 
  • Interns are compensated at a rate of $15.00 per hour if they work more than 40 hours per week (before taxes)
  • Spring Interns are guaranteed a minimum of $600 (before taxes) per pay period during the spring season – the pay period is biweekly
  • NTPGA staff uniforms including golf shirts and hats will be provided
  • Playing and practicing privileges at the NTPGA Golf Park and select golf courses in the area
  • School credit (if applicable)
     
HOUSING
The Northern Texas PGA does not provide housing of any kind but will be more than happy to assist with the location of housing for those unfamiliar with the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Past interns have utilized corporate housing agencies for fully furnished apartment leases, secured house leases through Airbnb, or utilized extended-stay hotels. Those with family or friends in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex are welcome to stay there and not obligated to live with other interns.
